Junior QHSE Coordinator

Van Wijngaarden Marine Services offers with her extended fleet maritime support to the dredging and renewables industry, offshore companies (oil & gas) and to the inland and open sea shipping. Amongst others we take care of towing services, transport, anchor handling and survey activities. We work worldwide to be of service to our clients in a professional and sustainable way.

We have a fleet of 19 ships for deep-sea, coastal and inland waters. They assist worldwide at dredging and a variety of offshore projects. In addition to that we execute towing trips. We support with the construction and maintenance of offshore and renewables projects, like windfarms at sea. Other services are geotechnical activities and seabed levelling in harbours and fairways.

About this position

As a Junior QHSE Coordinator at Van Wijngaarden Marine Services you play a crucial role in implementing and monitoring our policy in the field of Quality, Safety, Health and Environment. Your role is essential to ensure the safety and compliance of our operations in the maritime services sector.

Unceasing care of quality, health, safety and environment is pivotal. Our sea-going vessels sail under classification of Bureau Veritas and meet the standards of the flag state. We continuously strive to improve the awareness and behaviour of our employees concerning quality, health, safety and environment. Regular internal and external audits, regarding MLC - ISM - IMCA, as well as training of crews and office staff contribute to that.

Key responsibilities

• Implementing and monitoring the Safety Management System and ISO 9001 standards;
• Delivering data for the corporate QHSE KPI's on monthly basis;
• Planning and coordinating audits in the area of QHSE expertise;
• Investigating incidents, accidents and near misses and initiate actions if necessary;
• Ensuring relevant emergency response initiatives have been taken and proper exercises are organized;
• Performing analysis of statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvements;
• Establishing a strong safety culture throughout the organization and the vessels regarding safety and environmental impact, conducting safety-induction and training.

Your profile

• MBO / HBO level of working and thinking. Preferably in the direction of Integrated Safety Science (IVK) in combination with Secondary Safety Science (MVK).
• Preferably, knowledge of ISO, ISM ISPS, MLC and other relevant standards;
• Communication skills in Dutch and English, both verbal and written;
• Ability to collect and deliver QHSE data;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word);
• Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment;
• Ability to work proactively and independently;
• Holding a positive and professional attitude within the work place environment;
• Team player.
